Rasmus Grue Christensen appointed new Director General of DIGNITY

Director of the Danish Association of the Blind Rasmus Grue Christensen is the new Director General of DIGNITY - Danish Institute against Torture. His official start will be the 1st of August.

It will be 40-year-old Rasmus Grue Christensen who will continue the Danish fight against torture and organized violence.

Rasmus Grue Christensen is a former diplomat in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he has, among other things, been Deputy Head of the Danish representation in the Palestinian territories. He is former Head of Secretariat for the Danish Social Liberal Party and Director of the think tank Monday Morning. In addition, Rasmus has considerable experience from the NGO sector, among other things as Chief Executive of the Red Cross Youth and most recently as Director of the Danish Association of the Blind. He is also a voluntary board member of several foundations and associations.

- I'm looking forward to being part of DIGNITY. It is a wonderful human rights organization that unites research-based knowledge and great vigor in the fight against torture and organized violence. I have great respect for DIGNITY's work, and I will take on this new responsibility with openness and humility, says Rasmus Grue Christensen.

Chairman of DIGNITY's Board of Directors, Louise Holck, informs that the choice to appoint Rasmus Grue Christensen was unanimous, and that he was picked from a field of many strong candidates.

- In Rasmus we have found a sharp-minded and visionary Director, whom I am sure will be able to strengthen the organization further - to the benefit of the millions of people who suffer from trauma after torture or live at risk of being subjected to torture or other organized violence.

Rasmus holds a master's degree in economics and philosophy from Copenhagen Business School and a master's degree in international politics from the London School of Economics.

He lives in a community-accommodation in Albertslund together with his wife and their three children.

Rasmus Grue Christensen officially joins DIGNITY on August 1, 2019.
