The theme of the two-day conference is Refugee Resilience and Recovery: Innovative and Integrative Approaches to Trauma Treatment.
The workshops, presentations, key notes and symposiums will focus on the latest advancements and innovative approaches in the treatment of trauma-affected refugees across the Nordic countries. Additionally, the conference will focus on how contextualizing trauma and building upon existing strengths and resources within the community can facilitate the strengthening of refugees’ resilience.
Nicolai Cerisier Roitmann, Director of National Rehabilitation at DIGNITY and host of the conference, is looking forward to welcoming more than 200 professionals:
»We hope that by exchanging research-based and clinical knowledge on the interdisciplinary rehabilitation and treatment of trauma-affected refugees, participants will be inspired and contribute to developing the field both in the Nordic region and internationally«.
The keynote speakers are:
Khader Rasras, General Director at the Treatment and Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture in Palestine, will discuss how to provide trauma treatment when the trauma is still ongoing.
Wietse A. Tol, Professor of Global Mental Health at the University of Copenhagen, will explore how mental health initiatives can be integrated into sectors addressing the social determinants of mental health, such as social connectedness for migrants.
Karen-Inge Karstoft, Ph.D. and leader of the DARECO project – a large cohort study of Ukrainian refugees in Denmark – will present findings on how the mental health of Ukrainians in Denmark has developed during their first years in the country.
