Watch full side event on Preventing Torture in Prison: Current Issues and Good Practices in Prison Management

During the 55th Regular Session of the Human Rights Council DIGNITY hosted a side event about how to prevent torture in prisons. During the session the panel discussed global challenges of prison management at a time when the world prison population is record-high, the impact of penal policy on prison management and good practices in protecting prisoners from torture and in pursuing alternatives to detention and imprisonment.
The panel was:

  • Dr. Marie Brasholt, Medical Director of DIGNITY – Danish Institute against Torture, and member of the UN Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture (SPT)
  • Therese Rytter, Legal Director of DIGNITY – Danish Institute Against Torture, and Vice President of European Committee for the Prevention of Torture
